Eastgate Engineering continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety and environmental awareness at the Dogger Bank site, with consistently high levels of workforce engagement and proactive risk management.
Over the reporting period, the project has seen sustained participation in Stop Card reporting and routine site inspections. This high level of engagement has helped identify potential hazards early and reinforce a positive safety culture across the site. Alongside this, the team has maintained a strong focus on the review of RAMS, site set-up readiness, and the implementation of electrical isolation and permit-to-work controls in preparation for mobilisation to Nigg Bay.
Emergency preparedness has remained a key priority. Rescue drills were carried out throughout the latter part of the year, including a complex exercise conducted inside a horizontal tower section. This drill simulated a serious injury with a potential cardiac event, providing a realistic and challenging scenario for the team.
The response during the exercise was excellent. Team members demonstrated strong first-aid knowledge, clear allocation of roles, and effective communication and reassurance of the casualty throughout. After assessing the situation, the team selected the safest and most efficient extraction method, transferring the casualty onto a stretcher and guiding them out via the ladder section. This approach minimised manual handling risks and avoided unnecessary obstacles during the rescue.
Following the drill, a key learning point was the importance of keeping first-aid skills fresh and consistent across all shifts. As a result, regular first-aid refresher sessions were arranged with the site medical team for both day and night shift personnel, ensuring continued competence and confidence in emergency response.
These activities highlight the Dogger Bank team’s ongoing commitment to planning, preparedness and continuous improvement, reinforcing Eastgate Engineering’s high HSE standards as the project moves towards its next phase.
