Engineering a mentally healthier workplace

At Eastgate Engineering, mental wellbeing isn’t something we reserve for a single week each year — it’s a core value built into our culture, our conversations, and the way

we work. That said, Mental Health Awareness Week offered an opportunity to go further and put that commitment into practice in meaningful, visible ways across our teams and sites.

Throughout the week, we introduced 5-minute mental health moments into our regular toolbox talks. These short, focused sessions gave our teams a chance to pause, reflect, and access valuable information on mental health support, both internally and externally. More importantly, they sparked honest and open conversations around topics that too often go unspoken: stigma, stress, and the simple yet powerful act of checking in on one another.

To reinforce our message, we distributed Wellbeing Kits to our site teams, which included:

  • ✅ Quick-reference handouts with key Eastgate contacts and external helplines

  • ✅ Light-hearted stress-relief tools — including novelty pens and stress balls

  • ✅ A clear, visible reminder that no one is ever alone when it comes to mental health

These kits were designed not only to be useful, but to send a strong message: your wellbeing matters, and help is always within reach.

A huge thank you to ANDYSMANCLUB, whose resources played a key role in shaping our wellbeing kits. Their work in supporting men’s mental health is vital, and we’re proud to align with their mission to get people talking, listening, and supporting one another.

At Eastgate, we know that building strong teams means more than delivering projects – it means creating a culture where everyone feels safe, supported, and heard. Mental health is part of that foundation.

Let’s keep talking. Let’s keep supporting.
Let’s keep building a healthier workplace — together.
